Soeharto to open new luxury complex
JAKARTA (JP): President Soeharto will open today the five- hectare Lingkungan Dharmawangsa, a luxury apartment and hotel complex in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.
Executive director of the complex Michael Sumarijanto said that the project, which cost about US$390 million, was designed to combine Indonesian traditional culture and modern art.
He said that the complex housed five-star Hotel Dharmawangsa, Klub Bimasena and two apartment towers.
"The 100-room Hotel Dharmawangsa will offer a wealth of Indonesian culture and art, which inspired the exterior and interior of the hotel," he said.
The hotel, owned by PT Binapuri Lestari, will be operated by well-known hotel operator Rosewood Hotels and Resort Inc.
The Bimasena club, owned by PT Griya Kartika Dharmawangsa, will be run by the Foundation of the Indonesian Institute for Energy Economics.
The foundation's members are experts from the Ministry of Mines and Energy, mining and petroleum contractors, experts on finance and economics, and businesspeople working in the energy industry.
"The club will provide the petroleum society the latest information about the government and private activities in mining and energy industry," Michael said.
The one-hectare club site was the venue of the 103rd OPEC Conference, which ended Sunday.
The third focus of the complex is the 84 Dharmawangsa apartments, also owned by Yayasan Binapuri Lestari.
Michael said the two apartment towers, one of which has been completed, will provide residents a feeling of affinity with the beauty of the Kebayoran Baru area. (08/jsk)
