Soeharto Cup to resume

JAKARTA (JP): More than 40 horses will take part in the 30th
Soeharto Cup national horse racing championships first series at
the Pulo Mas track tomorrow.

Committee chairman Ferialdy Adnoes said the national
prestigious championships will feature nine races, with the 1,850
meter Derby Indonesia topping the main attraction of the annual
event.

The organizer will provide a Rp 25 million (US$10,600) prize
for the Derby race, with 12 horses from six provinces taking
part.

Ferialdy said the preliminary round had been staged on July 14
at the same venue. The second series preliminary round of the
championships will take place on Aug. 25. The second series and
the final of the Soeharto Cup will be staged on Sept. 8. (yan)
