Soccer players

This is in reference to Jan Wejs' letter (July 15, 1995).

Gascoigne: Sorry for my lapsus, but when dealing with not- famous teams' names a mistake can be forgiven. It doesn't matter whether Gascoigne joined Arsenal or Rangers; He has been sent back home, becoming another Italian soccer reject.

Internazionale Soccer Club (and not Inter Milan, which are two different teams), is well known for choosing wrong players, as in what happened with Ruben Sousa, Bergkamps, Klinsmann, Jonk and so on. One more or one less (Paul Inche) makes no difference. Very likely, Inche will follow Platt & Co shortly.

Cantona: Soccer is not Jan Wejs' strong point if he doesn't understand that the hypothetical multi-million dollar offer was just United's escamotage for swallowing a bitter pill. If Ferguson's words were true (The Jakarta Post, July 17, 1995, page 9), only a madman would have refused a multi-million dollar offer. A personal suggestion to United for Cantona's matter?

Therefore, all my predictions were correct: Cantona is still where he was, Platt and Gascoigne have been "returned to sender." Exactly as predicted.
