Soccer match ends in rampage
At least four people, including a 10-year-old boy, were injured in a disturbance outside of Mattoangin Stadium in Makassar after soccer team PSM was held to a goalless draw at home by Persik of Kediri on Tuesday. Witnesses said dozens of fans sparked the incident when they began throwing plastic bottles at the PSM players as they headed to the locker room.
The police stepped in but were unable to restore order, partly because several PSM began throwing the bottles back at the crowd. The commotion continued outside of the stadium, with more people getting involved. Police fired several warning shots to break up the commotion. Three people were arrested for inciting the riot. -- JP
