Slow computer irks motorcyclist

I went to Taman Anggrek Mall riding my motorcycle instead of driving a car, hoping to save time because that way, usually, I don't have to queue and look for a parking spot. It surprised me when I saw motorcycles were forming a long queue trying to get into the parking area. I joined the queue and could see every time the ticket officers had finished entering the motorcycle's registration number into a computer, they had to wait long enough for the printer to print out a ticket before being able to proceed to the next queuing motorcycle.

It turned out they used a dot matrix printer which is very slow and outdated. One ticket took about one to two minutes while motorcycles kept coming in. So there was a bottleneck. It would be much faster if they did it manually by jotting down the motorcycle's registration number on the tickets.

The management of Taman Anggrek Mall has decided to computerize its parking system, but to improve the service to customers, it should use up to date and faster software and hardware. Computers are supposed to speed up work, not slow it down.
