Slank

Artist : Slank Album : Road to Peace (Slank Records)

When Slank vocalist Kaka yells, "Yo parents, learn how to understand your children!" in Gap, it tells us that while 20 years has passed, the band is still able to channel the voice of youth.

This album was recorded live on stage, although it lacks the atmosphere, the spontaneity and interesting communication with the audience. And the prominent position of the sponsor's logo makes the album cover ugly.

However, the sound is more mature, the lyrics are getting more interesting, sophisticated and political while remaining refreshingly naive and frank.

Still staying true to its rock 'n roll, Stone-esque flavor, Slank condemns the older, status quo generation in Gap and Gap 2.

They urge young fans, mostly from the lower income bracket, to work hard in Mars Slankers, avoid drugs inSalah Rehab (Wrong Rehabilitation) and give women respect in Respect/Kualat (Respect/Bad Karma).

There are no ballads here, and as far as love song goes there is the ode of jealousy P3K, which comes with a gritty guitar sound.

Check out bluesy Amrozy Gitting (Stoned Amrozy), a duet with band Naif, about Bali bomber suspect Amrozy, where Kaka sings, Kamu bawa-bawa agama dan Tuhan...Lihat apa yang kamu lakukan (In the name of religion and God... Look what have you done).
