Sketches tops book sale

The newly-published Sketches of Indonesian Society, a
compilation of articles by Indonesian intellectual Mochtar
Buchori, is making a splash at the APEC meeting.

The book, launched only a week ago, is topping sales at the
Gramedia book stand at the Jakarta Convention Center, where the
APEC meeting and the media center are located.

"We began with 200 copies and now we're down to 57," said the
Gramedia attendant on Saturday.

The book retails at Rp 15,000 per copy.

The stand also provides other books in Bahasa Indonesia and
English, and postcards for delegates to send home. The latter
items are as popular as Sketches, said the attendant. (jsk)
