Sjahrir to launch new party

JAKARTA: Economist Sjahrir, who is also the chairman of New
Indonesia Association (PIB), will soon launch his newly
established political party.

He has refused to disclose the name of the party as well as
the announcement date.

Members of PIB, who have adopted a critical stance toward the
government and the House of Representatives, are likely to be
included in Sjahrir's political party.

Members of PIB from 21 provinces held a meeting in Puncak,
West Java, last month to discuss the establishment of the party.

The PIB was established on March 22 last year by a number of
economic and political experts. -- Antara
