Sixty percent of roads in damaged

PALANGKARAYA, Central Kalimantan: Of the total 1,714 kilometers of major roads in Central Kalimantan province, 62.85 percent are in need of repair, which has been delayed due to funding shortages, a senior government official said on Friday.

JB Simanjuntak, the chief of the East Kalimantan Transportation office said the government needed Rp 300 billion yearly for roadwork, but the amount of money available this year was only Rp 140 billion.

He said that due to the limited funds the government would prioritize road sections that were in dire need of repair. -- Antara
