Six students go on hunger strike

SALATIGA, Central Java: Six students from the state-run Islamic Institute (STAIN) here began a hunger strike yesterday to protest the soaring prices of basis essentials.

The protesting students stayed inside "a tent of concern" set up on their campus. They urged the government yesterday to solve the country's deepening crisis.

The protest is the latest in a series of on-campus protests related to the crisis that have been taking place across the country over the past month. (har)
