Six quizzed over car bombing

JAKARTA (JP): Police detectives are questioning six people as witnesses, in connection with the bombing of an Espass van in Pancoran, South Jakarta late on Tuesday night.

Pancoran police subprecint chief Comr. Ignatius Susanto said on Wednesday that witnesses told detectives that they saw someone in a white Toyota Soluna sedan throwing a molotov cocktail under the van.

The van with registration number B 1846 GP was incinerated.

"It's too early to call this an act of intimidation toward the owners of the van. There could possibly be something else," Susanto told reporters on Wednesday.

Susanto said the witnesses included the owners of the Espass van, identified as Rudi Alfian and Yulianti, who were eating at a nearby food stall when the incident happened.

Other witnesses were Gautama, Irwanto, Mansyur and Abdul Solihin.

Separately, Abdul Solihin, an owner of a food stall in the area, said that he had seen the sedan circling the Pancoran area at least twice. (ylt)
