Six police officers fired for offenses

BANDARLAMPUNG, Lampung: Six police officers were fired on Saturday for corruption, drug crimes and failure to report to work.

Brig. Gen. Rasyid Ridho, chief of the Lampung provincial police, announced the firings a day after the six low-ranking officers were found guilty by a police tribunal of failure to report to work, corruption and involvement in drugs, respectively.

Adj. Sr. Comr. Hariadi Wibowo, spokesman for the Lampung Police, said four of the six officers were involved in criminal cases and would face legal prosecution. -- JP
