PALANGKA RAYA, Central Kalimantan: Six people were killed as their car sank in the Kapuas river, Central Kalimantan, Antara reported on Saturday.

The Kijang van had started to get off a traditional ferry which serves two villages separated by the Kapuas river.

But the ferry was rocked by waves and the car plunged into the river. Three of van's nine passengers managed to get out but they could not save the remaining six.
