Six killed in accident

SEMARANG: Six people were killed and two others injured in a bus collision in Ungaran, about 20 kilometers south of the provincial capital on Monday.

Semarang police chief Lt. Col. Beno Kilapong said the accident occurred when a car and a minivan which wanted to turn right in Lemah Abang collided head-on with a passenger bus coming at high speed from the opposite direction.

"The collision would not have happened if the bus driver had not been driving recklessly," he regretted.

He said the bodies of the victims had been taken by their relatives while the injured were still being treated at Ungaran General Hospital. (har)
