Sincere interfaith harmony sought

From Media Indonesia

Over the last several years, the development of relations between believers in the country have been less than conducive to inter-faith tolerance, with an increasing number of cases of conflict tending to remain unresolved.

Worse still, many of the cases have become deadlocked and led to acts of violence involving religious adherents. The intensity and extent of social conflict have therefore kept rising.

Our nation has often boasted of its very high religious tolerance and harmony. So, despite the frequent crises and even clashes in the interfaith ties, optimism about building a peaceful life of religious diversity prevails, though with constraints.

It is the duty of all believers to interpret their relevant religious teachings to further communications with each other with the aim of relieving interfaith tensions.
