SilkAir increases RI flights

JAKARTA (JP): Singapore airline SilkAir will increase its flight frequencies to several destinations in Indonesia this year in a bid to encourage tourism growth into the country.

Beginning on March 25, SilkAir, wholly-owned by Singapore Airlines (SIA), will increase the number of its flights to Medan, North Sumatra to 14 per week from the previous 12, and to Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara from four to six flights per week, SIA said in a statement.

Flights to Manado, North Sulawesi will be increased to four flights a week from the current two, and flights to Padang, West Sumatra to three flights a week instead of two.

SilkAir will also increase flight frequencies to Surakarta, Central Java and Makasar, South Sulawesi to four and three flights per week respectively.

SIA said in the statement that in March SilkAir would also deploy its new A320 aircraft, bringing its aircraft capacity up to a total of four A320s and three A319s. (tnt)
