Silk Air expands its flight service

JAKARTA (JP): Silk Air, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, will double the frequency of its flight service between Singapore and Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, to six times a week due to the increasing traffic volume, an official said yesterday.

Supit Arif Barata of the Silk customer service in Mataram was quoted by the Antara news agency as saying that the Singapore- Mataram service which was launched last March has enjoyed a fairly high load factor.

The Singapore-Mataram flight service posted an average load factor of 45 percent and the Mataram-Singapore service 65 percent, Barata said but he did not specify when the daily flight schedule, except on Fridays, would begin.

Silk Air currently serves Jakarta, Surakarta in Central Java, Medan in North Sumatra, Padang in West Sumatra, Pekanbaru in Riau, Manado in North Sulawesi, and Mataram.

In serving Mataram, Surakarta and Ujungpandang, Silk Air is working with three Indonesian airlines: respectively, Sempati Air, Merpati Nusantara and Bouraq Airlines. (01)
