Silence TV better?
Silence TV better?
I refer to the letter by Mr. Piero Ronci in your newspaper
dated Aug. 31, 1995.
I have over the past six years of living in Jakarta, resisted
any temptations to write a letter to your readers column, even in
answer to some of Mr. Ronci's ridiculous statements over British
sports. However, I have finally cracked. Mr. Ronci now wants all
European Soccer commentary to be made in Indonesian, he then
obviously has not listened to the analysis before the games and
at half time, or if he did, he either cannot understand a word of
Indonesian or he must have the same total lack of knowledge on
the sport in question as well.
When and if the commentary can be made of a quality worthy of
the sport, where names are pronounced correctly and historical
data on games and players are correct, then I am sure we would
all welcome it, then it should also be of a volume compared to
the game match audio, whereby one can enjoy the match atmosphere
also. Or should we all just mute the TV, and suffer in silence.
Isn't the main draw to a sport the atmosphere experienced?
Mr. Ronci, enough is enough, you have now managed to fire up
even the calmest of us (perhaps that is your sole objective). Why
don't you spare the room in the readers column for much greater
interesting subject matter? I am sure that most of the readers
would agree with me, we've had enough from you.
