Sign language

From Kompas

The translation of the newscast on TV into sign language is a service for the deaf. They share the need for information with the rest of the hearing public. Why then, do some people dislike this service?

In my opinion, this new system is really a great breakthrough in the nation's history. Indonesia continues to fight backwardness and ignorance and the use of sign language is a response to that challenge. Those of us with normal hearing must thank God for His blessing. In any case, the sign language translator occupies only a small part of the bottom right hand corner of the TV screen. I think this a good thing and should be continued.
