Siemens touts new phones

JAKARTA (JP): The German-based mobile telecommunications company Siemens Indonesia has recently launched three new models of mobile phones; the S35, C35 and M35, all of which are equipped with the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP).

The company said users of the new phones could access Internet sites that have wireless mark-up language (WML) addresses to get various information on breaking news, weather, sports as well as making simple banking transactions.

All three new phones are equipped with an internal modem and games. The S35 model is the lightest weighing only 105 grams, while the colorful C35 has a picture messaging facility and the M35 is water resistant.

Siemens said it expected its mobile phone sales to reach about 100,000 units this year and increase to 200,000 next year. (cst)
