Siemens touts new phones

JAKARTA (JP): The German-based mobile telecommunications
company Siemens Indonesia has recently launched three new models
of mobile phones; the S35, C35 and M35, all of which are equipped
with the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP).

The company said users of the new phones could access Internet
sites that have wireless mark-up language (WML) addresses to get
various information on breaking news, weather, sports as well as
making simple banking transactions.

All three new phones are equipped with an internal modem and
games. The S35 model is the lightest weighing only 105 grams,
while the colorful C35 has a picture messaging facility and the
M35 is water resistant.

Siemens said it expected its mobile phone sales to reach about
100,000 units this year and increase to 200,000 next year. (cst)
