Siemens awards RI students

JAKARTA (JP): The leading technology company, Siemens of Germany has granted the Siemens Excellence Award to three outstanding graduates of this country's universities, the company said on Wednesday.

"For the first time in its history, the Werner Von Siemens Excellence Award has been granted to three students from leading universities in Indonesia," Adolf Huettl, member of the managing board of Siemens AG and president of the Power Generation Group (KWU) said in a statement.

The award's recipients are the best graduates in electrical engineering from Jakarta's University of Indonesia, Bandung Institute of Technology and Yogyakarta's University of Gadjah Mada.

Huettl said they would be invited to Germany to learn about German culture and Siemens operations for two weeks.

Siemens will also donate 50 multimedia Siemens scenic personal computers to five high schools in Indonesia, including STK 56 in Jakarta, SMUN 8 school in Bandung, SMUN Kartika in Bandung, SMU Mitrasyah in Ujungpandang, and SMUN 3 Abepura in Irian Jaya. (jsk)
