Shots fired at lawyer's office

JAKARTA (JP): Unidentified people fired shots at the office of
lawyer Frans Hendra Winarta on Jl. Kelapa Gading Boulevard, North
Jakarta, on Wednesday evening, breaking the windows.

Frans, who arrived at the office at about 8 p.m., was told of
the incident by his associates. Two bullets were found on the
floor of the two-story building.

Several minutes later, another shot was heard and a bullet hit
the office door, persuading lawyers and other employees to lie
low. No one was injured in the incident.

Six police officers from the Kelapa Gading Police station were
sent to the law office later in the day.

Frans suspected the shooting was connected to a case his
office is handling.

He said he was currently representing Hartono, a notorious
here, whose house on Jl. WR. Supratman in Surabaya would be
auctioned by Bank Artha Graha.

"I placed an advertisement in Kompas daily today, to challenge
the auction plan. I believed the shooting is connected to the
case," Frans told The Jakarta Post. (jun)
