Shopping at Marks & Spencer

I was disappointed to read Damar Raharjo's letter of Sept. 20 concerning his experience when shopping with us last week.

The number of customers who chose to visit our Plaza Menteng store during "The Sale" was much greater than we anticipated. This led to a strain on resources -- both physical and personnel. No matter how well prepared the systems may be, to prevent the type of occurrence outlined by Mr. Raharjo, interfaces between systems and people leave opportunity for human error. This was obviously true in Mr. Raharjo's case and for this error I make an unreserved apology.

We have reminded our staff of the need to show utmost diligence to ensure such incidents are not repeated.
