Shooting quartet aiming at tryout
JAKARTA (JP): National shooting quartet of Sylvia Lumi Silimang, Supadmi, Rini Dwi K and Tintin will take an early Asian Games tests when they compete in the event's warm-up competition this week in Bangkok.
The training director of the Indonesian team for the Asiad, Muhammad Hindarto, said yesterday the Indonesian Target Shooting and Hunting Association had taken the initiative to send the women's quartet.
"We encourage sports organizations to provide funds for all tryouts themselves because we cannot afford to," Hindarto said.
The Indonesian markswomen are expecting a tough challenge because the continent's best shooters will turn up for the Asian Games trial.
The Games organizers have planned warm-up competitions for other sports in a bid to test their preparedness for the quadrennial event in December. This year's Asiad in Bangkok in December will feature 36 sports plus two exhibition events. (yan)
