Shooting of ex-militia member probed

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: The National Police Headquarters are investigating the fatal shooting of Vegas Biliatu, a former pro- Jakarta militia, in Raihat district in Belu regency here last year. Biliatu was shot dead in a neutral zone on the border of Indonesia and East Timor.

"He was allegedly shot by a member of the East Timor National Police," said Brig. Gen. Edward Aritonang, the chief of East Nusa Tenggara Police. -- JP
