Shooting lesson for journalists
JAKARTA (JP): The Jakarta Military Command gave journalists a shooting lesson at its main regiment headquarters in Condet Raya, East Jakarta yesterday.
Command spokesman Lt. Col. D.J. Nachrowi said that the lesson was aimed at increasing the journalists' knowledge about how soldiers and police officers defended themselves.
"The command gave the opportunity to journalists to recognize the kinds of guns used by the Armed Forces to maintain security in the country, particularly Jakarta," he said.
Fifteen journalists and photographers took part in the exercise, during which they fired an FN-45 pistol, the Armed Forces' standard sidearm.
"At least we can now understand why police officers sometimes miss their targets," said one of the journalists. (09)
