Shooting incident at Ambon school
AMBON: An unknown sniper shot into high school classroom in Ambon on Thursday, just days after a grenade attack injured 19 people.
The shooting occurred while a first year class of SMUN 11 senior high school students were studying on Thursday.
La Amu, geography teacher, who was taking the class at the time of the shooting, said he was shocked by the sound of the classroom window's glass breaking. When he examined the window he realized the school had been shot at, he said. No one was hurt in the incident.
Worried about more gunfire, La Amu then ordered the 60 students in the class to leave. All students at the school were sent home early shortly later.
Ambon Islands Police chief First Adj. Comr. Leonidas Braksan confirmed a gunshot penetrated the window but said the type of weapon used was not yet known. -- JP
