Ship makers to meet in Surabaya

SURABAYA, East Java: Shipmakers in the Asia-Pacific region were scheduled to hold a meeting in Surabaya on Sept. 15 to 18 to discuss the latest technology in the shipping industry.

State-owned ship company PT PAL Indonesia spokesman Asik said on Friday that a number of countries such as Japan, Malaysia and China would attend the meeting.

He said many countries in the region were eager to attend the conference that would be a forum for participants to share experience in applying the latest technology in the industry.

He said Indonesia would also showcase its products, such as the passenger ship Pax 200, Fast Patrol Boats (FPB) and semi- cargo ships. -- Antara
