Sheraton raises funds

BANDUNG: The management of the Bandung Sheraton Hotel is supporting the United Nations' Children's Fund (Unicef) effort to combat common children's diseases by raising funds from its guests.

"We are charging every guest US$1 when they check out," Sasa Atmodirono, the Bandung Sheraton's public relations officer, told The Jakarta Post.

Diseases which kill children include tuberculosis, tetanus, polio, measles, diphtheria and whopping cough.

According to Sasa, the management of the Sheraton International first launched this program at the On Park Hotel in Sydney, Australia, and invited Roger Moore, famous for playing James Bond, who is Unicef's Film and Art envoy, to launch the program. (17/14)
