Sheraton guests aid children

JAKARTA (JP): International hotel chain Sheraton Hotels & Resorts announced on Thursday that its two properties in Bali, the Sheraton Laguna Nusa Dua and the Sheraton Nusa Indah Resorts, had raised about US$50,000 in donations for Unicef since 1996.

Sheraton said it had joined Unicef's "Check Out for Children" program since 1996 by encouraging its guests to give donations of $1 when settling their hotel bills.

Sheraton properties and their guests worldwide have so far donated approximately $3 million to the program.

The money has been used by Unicef for immunization, which has saved the lives of more than 20 million children in developing countries. (gis)
