Shadow MPC in 'PC pang'

BUSAN, South Korea: Journalists covering the Busan 2002 Asian Games have repeatedly complained about the services provided by the organizing committee to facilitate them in sending news back home, but it would seem the complaints have fallen on deaf ears.

Despite the large numbers of journalists present here, there are only limited internet-related services provided in the Main Press Center (MPC) in the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO) building.

There are only 44 internet-enabled public phone booths in the MPC with about 200 seats. Not only are the facilities limited, the data transfer speed is also very slow.

This situation has forced some journalists to establish their own shadow MPC at the speedy PC pang (internet cafes) found near their hotels.--JP
