Sex a hot topic in print media, radio and television stations

Kontak Harmoni Hemaviton

Screened on RCTI

Time: 10 p.m.

JAKARTA (JP): A woman called talk-show hosts at a TV station complaining of a sex problem -- she could never have an orgasm.

The hosts, famous sexologist Dr. Naek L. Tobing and actress Meriem Bellina, smiled meaningfully and tried to encourage the caller to tell more of her problem.

The caller said she asked her husband to engage in some foreplay to arouse her sexually.

The woman's husband admitted: "I don't want to do any foreplay before having sex with my wife."

Dr. Tobing advised the husband to engage in foreplay and offered several solutions to deal with the woman's sex problem.

Since October, private television station RCTI has been showing an interactive talk show on sex issues called Kontak Harmoni Hemaviton, screened every Thursday night.

Sponsored by Hemaviton, which also runs a controversial ad featuring Meriam Bellina and actress Inneke Koesherawaty about Inneke's upcoming wedding night, the program attracts quite a lot of viewers who are curious to know more about sex.

Sex in the media is no longer taboo. Anyone can talk about and discuss it openly without having to feel embarrassed.

Print and electronic media offer a number of talk shows and columns discussing various sex issues. Sex has become a hot topic in local tabloids, weekly magazines, on radio stations, TV stations and even a number of websites, including women's weekly magazine Femina, men's magazine Matra, and weekly tabloids Citra and Bintang. RCTI is not the only electronic media to air a talk show on sex. Trijaya FM and Elshinta radio stations, and private TV station ANteve also have sex programs.

Kontak Harmoni deals with an abundances of problems related to sex, but as the majority of participants are married couples, the show is probably intended to solve marital sex problems.

Meriam adds a humorous and easy atmosphere to the show. Many times, callers are too shy to express their feelings and to honestly tell their problems.

To make the program more interesting, a guest star is invited on the show.

Dr. Tobing, who married Marion Aritonang in November 1966, opened the show last week by answering a question from Meriam.

"Doctor, you're looking so energetic and youthful, what is your recipe?"

Dr. Tobing answered jokingly, "Yes, because I always engage in foreplay before I make love with my wife."

Solution

In the past, people have found it very hard to get accurate information on sex.

Kontak Harmoni Hemaviton, provides solutions to many problems dealing with sex, such as foreplay, premature ejaculation, impotency, fertility, masturbation, hypersex and many other subjects.

The hosts seem to try to be balanced and scientific when explaining a sex issue, yet with the sexy Meriam Bellina as a host, who could be scientific?

In addition, the show alternately features Dr. Boyke Dian Nugraha, another noted sexologist, and movie star Inneke Koesherawaty.

But as Inneke is unmarried, viewers may question her capability and experience as she seems so eloquent when explaining sexual issues.

For married couples, especially those who rarely read books and get information from various sources, this program may be useful.

If you have problems with your sex life or if you are just bored with the current news on politics and economics, you can watch this program to stimulate your mind and to renew your sexual desire, perhaps. (Sri Ramadani)
