Seven-year itch

In 1991, I bought a Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) house at Reni
Jaya Lama through the method of "debtor transfer". I fulfilled
all the obligations regarding the purchase of the house. The
handover document is numbered 138/Dok/Bgr/Spspk/1991 and signed
by Ratimin and Subarna.

To date I have received the entire set of documents, except
the land title deed, which I am told is still being processed.
This means it has been in the making since February 1991, or
exactly seven years to date!

Meanwhile, I have continually asked BTN about the document. I
have also spoken to the Depok BTN chief, H. Yunan, with no
result. Recently, I met with Agus of the BTN foundation. He told
me that the land title deed would probably be released next year.
Yet it all seems so infinitely uncertain.

It is clear, however, that I am not alone in this predicament
at Reni Jaya Lama.

The Suara Pembaruan reader whose letter was published in that
publication on Feb. 22 is fortunate. But when will BTN pay
attention to us at Reni Jaya Lama?
