Seven die in Demak accident

DEMAK, Central Java: Seven people died and 30 others were injured when a bus rammed into a parked truck near Wonokerto village, Karang Tengah district, on Saturday.

Adj. Sr. Comm. Musyafak said the PO Tri Sumber Urip bus was traveling at a high speed when it hit a motorcycle and then crashed into the truck, which was parked on the side of the road about 20 kilometers east of Semarang, where it had left earlier in the day.

The bus driver immediately fled the scene.

"We are still trying to track down the driver," Musyafak said on Saturday evening.

Five of the seven dead have been identified as Mukhlisin, 50; Umiyah, 25; her child Wahyu Fitrianti, 7; Diana, 24; and Ernawati, 20.(har)
