Seven burned in gunpowder blast

SEMARANG: Seven passengers suffered burns when 10 kilograms of gunpowder ignited in a bus at the Sukoharjo bus terminal, some 120 kilometers southeast of here on Friday evening.

Sukoharjo Police chief Lt. Col. Suherlan said on Saturday some of the bus seats caught fire following the explosion.

The victims were identified as Wardi, 45, Suyati, 40, Suwarno, 50, Warsito, 30, Tukiyem, 45, and the bus conductor Purwanto, 35. The other victim has yet to be identified. They are now being treated at the local state hospital.

"None of the passengers admitted possessing the gunpowder," Suherlan said. (har)
