Serial rapist blows his freedom

KEBUMEN, Central Java (JP): A man who has just started his three-year probation for rape has been convicted of another rape and sentenced to 11 years in jail.

Gani, 25, pleaded guilty Monday in the district court to raping a 19-year-old neighbor earlier this year.

The village playboy has appeared in court many times for sex scandals. Other cases have been resolved out of court.

In 1992, the same court sentenced him to eight years in jail for rape. Good behavior in prison let him serve his last three years on probation.

But Gani's inability to control his sexual desires shattered his chance to become a free man before the year 2000. (wah/pan)
