Sentul to hold Formula Asia
JAKARTA (JP): Chandra Alim will spearhead the challenge of eight renowned national drivers in the first stop of the seven- leg Formula Asia race at the Sentul international circuit, West Java on July 8-10.
At least eight overseas racers from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Britain, Singapore and India have confirmed their entries in the three-day race, with Akbar Ibrahim, Indian F-3 record holder since 1989, dubbed the red-hot favorite.
The second leg of the race, which has just been sanctioned by the international motor federation, FIA, will be held at the same venue in August, before moving to Kuala Lumpur, Johor and China.
Participants will drive open-wheeler FA-2000 cars, the lower standard of those used in Formula One races. FIA said the cars met the international sporting code during a test at the Shah Alam circuit in Malaysia last week. (amd)
