Sentosa reports losses

SURABAYA (JP): Publicly listed PT Trias Sentosa reported a net
loss of Rp 24.67 billion (about US$1.76 million) last year
compared to a net profit of Rp 31.10 billion in 1996.

Company director Yamin Chandra said the loss was attributed to
a foreign exchange loss of Rp 54 billion due to the rupiah's
sharp depreciation against the U.S. dollar.

He said, however, that the packaging paper and biaxially
oriented polypropylene manufacturer managed to record a 28
percent increase in net sales to Rp 206.57 billion last year from
Rp 160.91 billion the previous year.

He said exports contributed Rp 56 billion to the company's net
sales in 1997. (nur/aly)
