Sempati Air explains

Regarding Mr. Hasjim's letter (Jan. 13, 1997), we would like
to express our regret for the inconvenience Mr. Hasjim
experienced when trying to check-in at City Check-in Terminal
Senayan Jan. 6, 1997.

We could not accept Mr. Hasjim's request to check in due to
the company's check-in regulation stating that passengers with
discounted tickets are not allowed to check-in at any city check-
in terminal.

Passengers carrying tickets with student fare, teacher fare,
and such other discounts are subject to the regulation. The
regulation is meant to avoid ticket misuse and to create a faster
check-in process.

Passenger with discounted tickets can still block his or her
seat at the city check-in terminal, get a dummy boarding pass,
and free transportation to the airport. He or she can only get
his or her boarding pass at the airport check-in counter after
showing an ID card. The seat will be released if the passenger
doesn't show up until 45 minutes before boarding time.

We would like to apologize since our staffs didn't inform you
well enough on the policy. We hope this information could be
understood by all of our passengers.
