Seminar to treat Maluku matters

AMBON, Maluku: Some 70 foreign scientists have confirmed their
participation in the third International Maluku Research
Conference (IMRC) which is scheduled to last from June 27 to
July 4 at the campus of the University of Pattimura (Unpatti)
here.

The experts come from the United States, Australia, Germany,
the Netherlands and England.

The conference was held by the university in cooperation with
the University of Hawaii, the United States, Northern Territory
University (North Australia) spokesman of the Unpatti, Prof. PJM
Siwabessy said as quoted by Antara yesterday.

A similar conference was held in 1991 and 1992, at Hawaii
University.

The forthcoming conference which will discuss 45 papers aims
to reevaluate the previous anthropological, historical,
linguistic, geographical and oceanological researches on Maluku
to boost tourism here. (prs)
