Seminar on new GATT regulations
JAKARTA (JP): The National Agency for Export Development (NAFED) will organize a one-day seminar on the impact of the newly signed General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) on Indonesia's business activities.
A spokesman for the agency said that government officials and executives of state firms, commodity associations and banks are expected to participate in the seminar, which will be held next Tuesday at the PPEI building on Jl. S. Parman, West Jakarta,
The meeting will discuss various topics related to the GATT regulations.
Halida Miljani of the Directorate General for Foreign Trade will discuss new GATT principles and Riyanto B. Yosokumoro of the research and development center of the Directorate General for Foreign Trade will discuss market access for non-textile products.
Other speakers will include Darry Salim, a former ambassador to GATT who is now the Minister of Trade's adviser on textile and garment trade, who will discuss the integration of the Multi- Fiber Arrangement into GATT, while Mochtar of the research and development agency of the Ministry of Trade will discuss ruling on anti-dumping and subsidies.
Bambang Kesowo, a deputy secretary of the office of the Cabinet Secretariat, will discuss GATT regulations related to intellectual property rights.
The spokesman said the speakers at the seminar will also include former director general for foreign trade Suhadi Mangkusuwondo, and economists Djisman Simanjuntak, Rizal Ramli, Mari Pangestu and Dorodjatun Kuntjaradjakti.(10)
