Seminar on hotel, restaurant

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association's Jakarta chapter will hold its quadrennial general assembly and a seminar on "strategies to improve services in the free trade era" next Monday.

Chairman Arman R. Iskandar said here yesterday the seminar would be at the Gran Melia hotel. Speakers will include Minister of Administrative Reforms T.B. Silalahi, Dusit Mangga Dua hotel's general manager Christopher L. Green and restaurateur Emma S. Wirakusumah.

He said Indonesia had originally had a competitive edge in the hospitality industry.

"But we have to improve our skills and general abilities in serving people by mastering more foreign languages. We also have to learn how to provide and maintain cleanliness," he said.

Executive H.R.S. Widodo said hotel and restaurant owners will also call on the government to make better regulations. (icn)
