Semen Cibinong sees good prospects in W. Sumatra

PADANG, West Sumatra (JP): Publicly listed cement producer, PT Semen Cibinong, sees promising prospects for its Kujang brand in West Sumatra.

The cement company's marketing director Rusli Setiawan said here on Tuesday that the Kujang brand, which was introduced in the West Sumatra market only last month, received a positive response from local buyers.

He said about 8,000 tons of Kujang cement had been sold since it was first introduced in the province on Feb. 16.

"Our distributor CV Keluarga Jaya sold a total of 1,500 tons of Kujang cement in the first phase of the marketing which started on Feb. 16. The company sold another 6,300 tons last month. Another 2,000 tons will be shipped in mid April," Rusli told a press briefing.

He said he was sure that his company could sell a total of 10,000 tons of cement per month in the domestic market in the future, 20 percent of which would be marketed in West Sumatra.

PT Semen Cibinong, which operates a factory in Narogong, West Java, markets its product under the Kujang brand. The company is also the owner of PT Semen Nusantara, a cement company based in Cilacap, Central Java, marketing its product under the Borobudur temple brand.

PT Semen Cibinong Tbk is a public listed company which has four factories in Narogong, West Java, with an installed capacity of 5.6 million tons and two factory units in Cilacap, Central Java, with an installed capacity of 4.1 million tons. (28/sur)
