Security guards named as suspects

BOGOR (JP): Five security guards at the Royal Sentul housing complex here have been named as suspects following a clash on Wednesday with residents of nearby Sumur Batu village in Cibarengkok subdistrict, police said on Monday.

The chief of the Bogor Police, Lt. Col. Ade Husen Kartadipura, identified the five suspects as Mathius Marten, 36, Charles Matonari, 24, Ujang Syafei, 25, Abel Fatima, 26, and Kamsar, 33.

Ade said the number of suspects could increase because the police were still conducting their investigation.

"The four were included in the 19 security guards we've already questioned, and more guards will be questioned," Ade said.

At least six of the villagers were injured, two of them seriously, in Wednesday's clash with some 50 armed security guards.

Police confiscated bricks, stones, sticks and sharp weapons from the five suspects.

The clash broke out after residents accused the developer of the housing complex of blocking the main access road to their village.

The housing complex is owned by PT Royal Sentul Highlands. Bambang Trihatmodjo, one of former president Soeharto's sons, is president director of the company. (emf/24)
