Security guard jailed for killing

BANDJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: A district court here sentenced Achmad Kursani alias Anang Kandangan, a security guard in Teluk Kelayan in the city, to 11 years in jail for assassinating his colleague.

Nurul Hasanah who presided over the panel of judges in the court session, said Kursani was proven guilty of violating the law in connection with the stabbing death of his colleague Noor Asyikin.

"The judges made a conclusion that the suspect (Kursani) killed his victim intentionally and the court will punish him with a four-year jail sentence," he said.

The killing occurred last May when the two were involved in an argument which apparently started when Hasanah refused to lend Asyikin Rp 50,000. Asyikin proceeded to run amok but Hasanah took his machete and stabbed him to death. -- Antara
