Security guard found dead

JAKARTA (JP): A Shangri-La Hotel security guard was found dead on the hotel's fifth floor after falling from the thirteenth floor late on Friday.

The hotel's senior manager Wastu Widanto said in a statement on Saturday that the victim was identified as Heri Indrianto, 25, a resident of Cilincing subdistrict in North Jakarta.

Wastu said Heri had been guarding the hotel's 13th floor from 7 p.m., but minutes before 12 p.m. another security guard heard sounds like breaking glass.

After searching all the hotel's floors, the victim was found on the outer wall of the hotel on the fifth floor.

Central Jakarta Police detectives' chief Comr. Yoyol told journalists that police were assuming that the hotel security guard had committed suicide.

"However, the police are investigating the background to the death," he said.

Heri's brother-in-law Laode, who took custody of the body after an autopsy was performed at the Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital's morgue, said Heri must have been murdered.

"It's impossible that Heri would have committed suicide as we know that he had no personal problems at all," he said. (02)
