Security beefed up for Habibie
MANADO, North Sulawesi: Military and police officers totaling 2,600 personnel will secure Saturday's scheduled arrival of President B.J. Habibie in Manado.
Governor E.E. Mangindaan said anticipation of demonstrations were part of the security measures, although he believed demonstrators would be likely to come from outside the area.
Security personnel have been advised to act "wisely" in the event of demonstrations, he said. "This place is not like in others where demonstrators have had to face security people," the governor said.
