SEAPI to start production

JAKARTA (JP): Steel pipe manufacturer PT South East Asia Pipe Industries (SEAPI), a unit of the Bakrie group, said on Tuesday it was ready to begin production at its manufacturing plant near Bakauheni, Lampung.

The company said in a statement its US$100 million plant finalized commissioning in July this year and was currently engaged in trial production.

It said the pipes produced during the trial run met the international standards of the American Petroleum Institute.

The plant has a production capacity of 200,000 tons per year and can produce 28-inch to 48-inch steel pipes.

Bakrie has two other steel pipe manufacturing units, namely Bakrie Pipe Industries and Seamless Pipe Indonesia Jaya. (jsk)
