SEA Games stickers

From Republika

PT PLN (the state-owned electricity company) has 20 million subscribers throughout Indonesia. Suppose half of them had bought SEA Games stickers at Rp 1,000 each. The total collected amount must have been Rp 20 billion per month from one source.

Other companies collecting from subscribers were PT Telkom (five million subscribers), PT Satelindo, Samsat, etc..

We know that the sale of tickets lasted at least four months. The total sales of the tickets can be easily estimated.

One morning a private TV station reported that the consortium in charge of SEA Games funds said it received only Rp 5 billion from sticker sales. Where has the money gone? There are culprits who had better admit their mistake and explain through the media what the problem is and offer their apologies.

There is no need to cover up such mistakes as this one. The people have become used to the juggling of such funds. What is unfamiliar to the people is an offer of apologies.

In order to narrow similar manipulative practices of funds in future, I am not going to contribute to the funds of any sporting event before there is reasonable accountability of the use of the present funds or an admission by the guilty party.
