Schools still have no principals

BEKASI: Around 30 state-run elementary schools in Bekasi mayoralty have not had a school principal for the last two years.

"This raises questions about the performance of councillors, particularly from Commission E overseeing social welfare," said Syafrudin, a councillor from the National Mandate Party (PAN) on Monday.

Personnel office head Amien Basri said the council education agency had submitted names for the vacancies late due to doubts about some of the candidates proposed earlier by the head of the agency.

"The head of the agency suddenly changed the candidates names that we had approved before. Therefore, we asked them to submit the fixed candidate names."

The agency's acting head, Asmari, was summoned by the commission to clarify the problem. -- Antara
